The title of this text comes from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah:
Woe to those that name evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for mild and lightweight for darkness; who substitute bitter for candy and candy for bitter! (Is 5:20)
Isaiah conveyed this message of God to His folks 2,700 years in the past; and it’s as related as we speak as anytime within the historical past of Christianity. Let us then throw off the works of darkness and placed on the armor of sunshine; allow us to conduct ourselves correctly as within the day, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in promiscuity and licentiousness, not in rivalry or jealousy. But placed on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the needs of the flesh. (Rom 13:11-14)
If one carefully examines the partial listing of actions that I referenced above, then you will notice that all of them have at their root needs of the flesh. And their penalties are inflicting nice pressure on the very material of our nation and of the world at giant.
