Wildfire burning close to Highland spreads to San Bernardino National Forest

A wildfire that began in Highland and was burning into the San Bernardino National Forest had charred 172 acres as of late Thursday as crews labored to comprise the blaze.

Crews responded round 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, to the Line hearth. The blaze, which started within the space of Baseline and Alpine, had zero p.c containment as of about 8 p.m, officers reported.

No evacuations have been ordered, and no constructions have been reported threatened. More than 250 personnel have been assigned to battle the hearth.
