The Taiwan Earthquake’s Aftermath

The Taiwan Earthquake’s Aftermath

A strong earthquake of no less than 7.4 magnitude struck Taiwan shortly earlier than 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

The quake, the strongest to strike Taiwan in 1 / 4 century, prompted buildings in Taipei, the capital, to shake for a minute or extra. In Hualien County, on the east coast, dozens of buildings collapsed, officers stated. At least 9 deaths and tons of of accidents have been reported, with the casualty toll anticipated to rise because the extent of the harm turned clearer.

Tremors have been reported in mainland China, as far-off as Hangzhou, Xiamen and Shanghai, and officers warned of extra doubtlessly sturdy aftershocks within the coming days.

Here are photographs from the aftermath of the earthquake.
