Saint Margaret of Antioch, often known as Marina, was born within the late third century in Antioch, Syria. Raised as a Christian, Margaret devoted herself to God from a younger age and vowed to stay chaste. She refused marriage proposals and confronted persecution below the Roman Emperor Diocletian for her Christian religion.

According to custom, Margaret was tortured for her refusal to resign Christianity.
