Protesters in South Korea rejoice as lawmakers impeach Yoon

Protesters on the streets of Seoul erupted with emotion on Saturday after lawmakers handed a movement to question South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, whose short-lived declaration of martial regulation earlier this month shocked the nation.

As headlines flashed on their telephones that sufficient officers had voted in favor of impeachment, anti-Yoon protesters screamed in jubilation close to the National Assembly, chanting Okay-pop songs and releasing balloons into the air. About 200,000 folks gathered within the space, native media reported, citing an unofficial tally by police.

“I introduced my children right here to indicate them how democracy works,” stated Arron Lim, who attended the protest along with his spouse and three younger kids. “Citizens are doing their responsibility.”
