Menifee girl, canine drown in California river, held underwater by tangled leash



A girl drowned in a Fresno County river when she and her canine fell from a raft and the leash connecting them grew to become caught on a submerged tree department, the sheriff’s workplace mentioned.

The accident occurred round 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, within the Kings River close to Reedley.

Mary Marshall, 63, of Menifee, was amongst a gaggle of a dozen associates who have been floating collectively on rafts. She had her German shepherd along with her, the leash hooked up to a harness Marshall was sporting.

When their raft veered right into a tree within the river, the canine jumped off, and Marshall fell into the water because the raft flipped, the sheriff’s report mentioned.
