Menifee man indicted on fees he distributed fentanyl that killed 2 individuals



A Menifee man has been charged in a federal grand jury indictment alleging that he distributed fentanyl to 2 victims who suffered deadly overdoses inside two weeks, the Department of Justice introduced Friday, April 5.

Edward Hernandez, 24, of Menifee, deliberately distributed fentanyl twice in April 2020, in line with allegations in courtroom paperwork.

One of the victims, recognized in courtroom paperwork as R.R. died on April 11. The different sufferer known as T.G., was underneath 21 years of age and died on April 21.

Hernandez was charged in a two-count grand jury indictment on Wednesday, March 13, on one depend of distribution of fentanyl, leading to loss of life, and one depend of distribution of fentanyl to an individual underneath the age of 21, leading to loss of life,.

“The sufferer took fentanyl, not one other drug that had been reduce with fentanyl,” Ciaran McEvoy, spokesman for the DOJ, stated.

Hernandez, who pleaded not responsible Friday, stays in custody and awaits his trial scheduled for May 20.

Hernandez was initially charged by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, which can attempt to dismiss its case after the federal indictment, Friday’s announcement stated.

U.S. District Judge Kenly Kiya Kayo, based mostly in Riverside, will preside over the case, McEvoy stated.
