LONG BEACH — A 23-year-old man already serving jail time in an assault case was booked into Long Beach City Jail on Monday on suspicion of a 2023 killing.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, Joseph Ballard of Long Beach was booked on an impressive homicide warrant in reference to the Oct. 22 demise of 33-year-old Thomas Ferguson of Fontana, who was shot in 14th Street Park.
