Line hearth causes some college districts to cancel Monday, Sept. 9 courses

The Line hearth burning in San Bernardino County has precipitated some college districts to cancel courses on Monday, Sept. 9.

The hearth, which erupted Thursday close to Highland, has pressured evacuations of many communities and has led to unhealthy air high quality because it continues to burn uncontrolled within the San Bernardino Mountains. By Sunday morning, greater than 35,000 buildings had been threatened, in response to Cal Fire.

The following districts have canceled courses and are monitoring situations shifting into the week.

Redlands Unified School District: Due to the continued hearth and evacuation warnings in East Highland, in addition to the unhealthy/hazardous air high quality within the area, all Redlands Unified School District colleges and services will probably be closed for college kids and employees on Monday, Sept. 9.

Families and employees will probably be notified by 4 p.m. Monday if the closure will probably be prolonged, the district’s website says.

Rim of the World School District: ROWUSD has determined to name for a non-student day on Monday, Sept. 9 for college kids and employees. “We will hold households up to date as we obtain further data from first responders,” the message on its web site says, citing Superintendent Paul Sevillano.

While San Bernardino City Unified School District hadn’t canceled courses by noon Sunday, the district’s web site says officers are carefully monitoring.
