ICC prosecutor seeks arrest warrant for Myanmar navy chief



The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) stated on Wednesday he would search an arrest warrant for Myanmar’s navy chief Min Aung Hlaing for crimes towards humanity within the alleged persecution of the Rohingya, a primarily Muslim minority.

A spokesperson for Myanmar’s ruling junta didn’t reply calls from Reuters instantly after the announcement. Reuters has requested remark from the navy authorities by e mail.

1,000,000 Rohingya fled, most to neighboring Bangladesh, to flee a Myanmar navy offensive launched in August 2017, a marketing campaign that U.N. investigators have described as a textual content ebook instance of ethnic cleaning.
