Harrods begins promoting Fukushima peaches



Harrods, a luxurious division retailer in London, began promoting peaches grown in Fukushima Prefecture on Saturday.

A tasting occasion was held to indicate how candy and juicy peaches from the realm are.

It is the primary time for Fukushima peaches to be bought in a retail retailer in Britain. Three peaches in a present field sells for £80.

The sale is a part of a marketing campaign by Tokyo Electric Power Company to advertise meals from Fukushima, an effort to assist the prefecture get better from the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident.

The Fukushima Prefectural Association in London and the Japan External Trade Organization cooperated within the sale.

Fukushima is the second-largest producer of peaches in Japan with a share of 26%, following Yamanashi Prefecture, based on statistics from Japan’s agriculture ministry.

Peach producers in Fukushima have been fighting reputational injury for the reason that meltdown at Tepco’s Fukushima No. 1 nuclear energy plant. They hope that the marketing campaign in Britain will assist improve gross sales of Fukushima peaches and enhance their model picture.
