Germany on mysterious damaged cables in Baltic Sea: ‘It is sabotage’


BERLIN — German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius on Tuesday stated “no person believes” that two damaged telecommunications cables within the Baltic Sea have been “unintentionally minimize.”

“We need to conclude, with out understanding precisely who did it, that it’s a hybrid motion and we additionally need to assume — with out understanding it — that it’s sabotage,” Pistorius advised reporters in Brussels on the sidelines of a Council of the European Union assembly.

The Finnish community firm Cinia stated Monday it was investigating a damaged undersea web cable operating between Santahamina close to Helsinki and Rostock in Germany — in a submarine incident that sparked political alarm in Berlin and Helsinki.
