German police arrest suspect in stabbing rampage



A person suspected of a stabbing rampage within the western German city of Solingen has been taken into police custody, a state official instructed German tv on Saturday, some 24 hours after the assault that killed three individuals.

North Rhine-Westphalia’s inside minister Herbert Reul instructed the ARD broadcaster that he was “a bit relieved” after authorities spent the day following a “sizzling lead” that result in the arrest.

The Islamic State group earlier claimed accountability for Friday’s knife assault that additionally wounded eight individuals.
