Crews preventing large pallet yard fireplace in Fontana

Dozens of firefighters have been working Saturday evening to knock down an enormous fireplace at a pallet yard in Fontana.

The fireplace broke out Saturday evening within the 15000 block of Whittram Avenue, close to Arrow Route and Beech Avenue.

The San Bernardino County Fire Department stated on social media the fireplace was reported at 8:14 p.m.

By the time it grew to a four-alarm fireplace, it was being attacked late Saturday by about 85 firefighters. Eighteen fireplace engines and 5 fireplace vehicles have been on scene.

The reason behind the fireplace was not identified. The large flames have been burning in about an acre within the yard and a number of industrial buildings have been threatened.

“If you might be within the space, please keep indoors because of smoke and air high quality issues,” the fireplace company stated on social media.
