An evangelical charity is to donate over 10,000 books to plug the hole in theological sources worldwide.
The launch of Langham Partnership’s ‘Books for Bible Colleges’ initiative coincides with World Book Day at this time.
The initiative is being pushed by a “essential scarcity” of theological sources within the Majority World that the charity says is feeding right into a “world management disaster” and hindering the event of diploma programmes.
According to the charity, over 80 per cent of pastors within the Majority World lack any formal coaching, and plenty of faculty and seminary libraries shouldn’t have enough sources to show them.
Further challenges lie within the “heavy reliance” on sources authored by Western Christians.
The initiative will permit Bible schools to select from 7,200 books within the Langham catalogue to create their very own core library and even acquire accreditation.
Participating schools will obtain a £300 grant and logistics and transport can even be coated.
Simon Foulds, Development Manager for Langham UK and Ireland, mentioned: “Now greater than ever, we have to equip Christian leaders with nice potential who face poverty, stress, and persecution every single day.
“Every church deserves a well-trained chief, and Langham needs to make sure each aspiring church chief has entry to a stocked library earlier than they preach from the pulpit. The basis of theologically sound examine and coaching can’t be underrated.
“In the West our entry to books is so widespread that we will take our training and libraries without any consideration. How many people have Christian books on our cabinets that we have purchased however by no means learn?”
Rev Rose Chemegemet, Academic Dean on the Kima International School of Theology (KIST), mentioned: “The complete workers at KIST are very grateful for the books which Langham has offered for the Church in Africa. Thank you a lot to everybody who donates to Langham for making such an important influence within the coaching ministry of the worldwide church.”
