Zheng Qinwen’s historic tennis gold on the Paris Olympics this month adopted a decadeslong surge within the sport’s recognition amongst China’s burgeoning center class, and her victory is ready to spice up it much more.

The 21-year-old gained China’s second-ever tennis gold, and first in singles, on the clay at Roland Garros, hailing the victory as a “proud” second for herself and her nation.

This week in Beijing, tennis facilities had been full of individuals, whereas membership bosses reported a spike in curiosity following Zheng’s title.
