China slams Germany for sending navy ships by Taiwan Strait

China slams Germany for sending navy ships by Taiwan Strait

Beijing claims the democratically ruled Taiwan as its personal and says the strait is inside Chinese jurisdiction.

Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius defended the transit on Friday.

“International waters are worldwide waters,” Pistorius stated throughout a press convention with Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kasciunas. “It’s the shortest route and, given the climate situations, the most secure, so we’re going by.”

The Taiwan Strait is a significant commerce route. Several nations’ army ships use the waterway, together with the U.S. But it is the primary time in 20 years that Germany’s navy has completed so, in line with German media experiences. The German ships have been touring from South Korea to the Philippines.

When requested concerning the transit on Friday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that “there’s not a lot to say … it is a global waterway.”
