Biden honors Mitsuye Endo, who fought WWII incarceration

U.S. President Joe Biden on Thursday awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal posthumously to Mitsuye Endo, a Japanese-American who gained a Supreme Court case over her incarceration throughout World War II.

“Her resolve allowed hundreds of Japanese Americans to return residence and rebuild their lives, reminding us that we’re a Nation that stands for freedom for all,” the White House mentioned in an announcement.

She was amongst 20 individuals who acquired the second highest civilian medal within the United States that’s awarded to U.S. residents who’ve carried out exemplary deeds of service for his or her nation or their fellow residents.
