Auction of world’s oldest Christian e book nets tens of millions

A Christian manuscript relationship again to the third century has been offered for simply over £3m after going beneath the hammer at London public sale home, Christie’s.


The Crosby-Schøyen Codex, believed to be Christianity’s oldest surviving e book and one of many oldest books on the earth, was auctioned off in London on Tuesday, with bidding lastly closing at £3,065,000.

The codex was one of many texts that shaped a part of the Bodmer Papyri, a group of a number of texts found within the Fifties that included Christian writings, Biblical extracts, and pagan literature, and adjusted arms a number of occasions earlier than being acquired by Dr Martin Schøyen within the Nineteen Eighties.
